As the 7th and 8th grade teacher at St. John’s Lutheran School, I have the pleasure of spending the school year with your son or daughter! I work hard to structure lessons to meet the needs of all learning styles. Here are a few highlights from my 7th and 8th grade classroom that make learning fun for my students.
For Reading, students will do intensive studies of various novels. These novels include The Breadwinner, The Diary of Anne Frank, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Where the Red Fern Grows, Swallowing Stones, The Giver, Left for Dead, and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.
In Science, students will participate in hands on activities within each lesson doing various Inquiry Warm-Ups and Quick Labs.
Each day students have the opportunity to participate in a special class. These classes include Music, Computers, and Physical Education.
Community service projects is one thing students look forward to when reaching the upper grade classroom. Each grade volunteers in their own community service project the second Monday of every month. 7th grade students volunteer with the Orphan Grain Train, while 8th grade students volunteer with the Meals on Wheels.
